FP0215 : Trouble differentiating optic disc drusen from disc edema? OCT comes to the rescue!

Abstract

STUDY DESIGN- CASE SERIES (3 patients).
PURPOSE- ANALYSING THE APPEARANCE OF OPTIC DISC DRUSEN AND DIFFERENTIATING IT FROM PAPILLOEDEMA BASED ON OCT FEATURES.
METHODS- Buried ONHD can be identified using various diagnostic modalities. OCT findings have not been described in detail in previous literature. This case series helps to enlighten the differentiating features based on OCT findings.
RESULTS- Here in case series of 3 patients who were misdiagnosed as papillodema. OCT findings revealed elevation of optic nerve head with normal retinal nerve fibre layer thickness with hyporeflective masses with hyper reflective borders in all 3 patients.
Conclusion- The timely diagnosis of optic disc drusen avoids unnecessary tests for raised intracranial pressure and spares the patient unnecessary anxiety about intracranial disease. OCT being a non invasive test can help to differentiate between the two entities accurately and with ease.
