FP2145 : Made-in-India Plaque Brachytherapy – Self-reliance and Success

Abstract

Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of made-in-India Ru106 plaque.
Methods: A retrospective, non-comparative, interventional case series.
Results: Of 101 patients, 24(23.7%) were choroidal melanoma, 25(24.7%) were OSSN, 21(20.7%) were choroidal hemangioma, 12(11.8%) were retinoblastoma. The choroidal lesions measured 4.6+1.6mm in height. Surface lesions received primary or secondary brachytherapy. Tumor apex dose ranged from (4000-10000 cGy) with mean treatment duration of 31.2+11.8h. Life salvage was achieved in all, eye salvage in 99(98%) and vision salvage in 62(62%) cases, at a median follow-up of 18months.
Conclusion: Made-in-India Ru106 plaque has excellent outcome, and is cost-effective.
