Descriptive Study
PURPOSE:To study clinical profile and outcome in an unusual case of traumatic complete superior orbital fissure syndrome with Le fort II orbital fracture.
METHODS:A 42Y/F came to OPD with presenting c/o RE pain,swelling,redness,complete drooping of eyelid,protrusion of eyeball,restriction of movements after accidentally getting hurt by cow’s horn.Detailed history(anticoagulant history, epistaxis,rhinorrhea),relevant laboratory investigations(viral marker,VDRL) & CT scan was done.Detailed ophthalmic examination(Forced Duction Test etc.)was done.Patient was treated with systemic steroid,antibiotic and analgesic.
RESULTS:Significant improvement in symptoms(eye movements,sensation,ptosis,proptosis)except diplopia.
CONCLUSIONS:In this case history,clinical examination and neuroimaging were in favour of diagnosis.Significant improvement in the signs and symptoms were noted with conservative treatment as no impingement or compression due to fractured bony fragments.
