FP2010 : long term outcomes of revision external dcr – 8 year study

Abstract

study design – retrospective interventional and non comparative
purpose- to analyse the long term outcomes of revision external dcr
methods- a total of 900 patients case records were retrospectively analysed and previously failed dcrs were identified .45 patients had the diagnosis. after excluding patients without proper followup 36 patients were included in the study. use of intubation and mmc were analysed. outcomes were tabulated and analysed.
results- out of 36 patients 35 patients had successful outcome.improper bony osteum, fibrous tissue obstruction were found to be the common cause of failure.
conclusion : revision surgery is a technically challenging surgical procedure.appropriate adjuncts can give a very good outcome
