Abstract

To estimate the level of vitamin D in aqueous humor of senile cataract patients with & without diabetes mellitus & then compare.
Methodology: prospective study enrolled 50 patients of senile cataract with age matched gender. Out of which 20 with diabetes&30 without diabetes were underwent for cataract surgery from September 2022 to june 2023. In all patient vitamin D level estimation in aqueous humor & serum was done & analyzed statistically. Results: Mean age of subject was 62±10.2yr).Mean value of vitamin D level in patients having senile cataract without diabetes comes 45.56 & senile cataract with diabetes is 71.68.The p value comes out to be 0.00022 which is significant. No correlation was observed between 25 (OH) D concentrations in aqueous humor and serum. Conclusions: Higher 25(OH) D level in aqueous humor was associated with diabetic cataract.
