Abstract
A 37-year-old woman presented with a painless slowly growing mass above the left medial canthus clinically diagnosed as Internal angular dermoid elsewhere. Uncorrected vision in both eyes was 6/6 (distance) and N6 (near). Patient noticed the mass for 2 months and it had been slowly growing in size. On examination mass was 10mm x 10mm in size, firm, non-tender, immobile, fixed to underlying bone, not the overlying skin. Posterior extent of the mass could not be palpated. ROPLAS was negative and syringing showed a patent lacrimal passage. CT scan of orbit with 2mm cut (1mm cut anteriorly) showed a well-defined 2cm by 1cm, hyperdense homogenous mass with no bone erosion. Anterior orbitotomy with excision biopsy of the mass was performed. During the procedure it initially appeared encapsulated but the superior end lacked capsule with fungating irregular surface. Postoperative syringing was patent, Dye disappearance was delayed. Histopathology report of mass suggested Neurilemmoma.
