FP1828 : EFFICACY OF NOVEL TECHNIQUE-ANTERIOR CHAMBER DIALER DIVIDE FOR SOFT CATARACT BY PHACOEMULSIFICATION

Abstract

Study design:Randomized comparative study
PURPOSE:Soft cataracts are difficult to chop.Phaco within capsular bag are prone to complications.Hence we are proposing a novel technique ACDD-Anterior chamber dialer divide for safer, efficient nuclear management of soft cataract.
METHODOLOGY:100 patients were randomly assigned to groupA novel phaco, groupB conventional phaco.Operated by single surgeon.Intraoperative UST,EPT,BSS utilized, surgeon’s comfort was evaluated.3months followup-BCVA,CCT, endothelial cell count assessed.
RESULTS:ACDD group utilized less UST,mean endothelial cell loss was13.86%and the difference with groupB was statistically significant. There was significant increase in CCT in groupB patients in immediate post-op and at 3rd month. There was no statistically significant difference with BCVA in both groups.
CONCLUSION:ACDD technique utilizes less phaco time, energy thereby less damage to corneal endothelium, has better surgeon comfort resulting in better visual outcome.
