FP1807 : KEEP THE BITE , AWAY FROM SITE ; SCARY OCULAR TRAUMA FROM DOG BITE

Abstract

Case study
Purpose:- To present a case of Ocular penetrating injury by Dogbite
Method :- 5y Female child presented with history of stray dog bite 16hr prior, with complaint of multiple facial injury and injury to both eyes .
On examination:- Child had multiple facial laceration
Right eye had lower lid laceration with canalicular tear , Rest of anterior and posterior segment Normal
Left eye has Subconjunctival hemorrhage with scleral tear with orbital floor fracture with vitreous hemorrhage
Results:- child managed
Medically with Intralesional anti Rabies antibodies and full course of ARV vaccine.
Surgically:- RE Lower lid laceration primary repair with canalicular Tear repair and LE globe exploration with scleral Tear repair with removal of Bony fragment impinging on globe
Skin laceration primary repair with edge debridement by plastic surgeon
Post operative left eye Bscan suggested of vitreous hemorrhage
Child followed up for 3months by both ophthalmologist and plastic surgeon
