Abstract
Purpose:To evaluate the role of intrastromal keratoplasty(ISKP) along with collagen crosslinking(CxL) in progressive keratoconus
Methods:A prospective longitudinal pilot study of 10 eyes of progressive keratoconus that underwent ISKP with donor lenticule(Bowman’s membrane+anterior stroma) placed in a femtosecond laser enabled stromal pocket, followed by accelerated CxL.All patients were followed up on post-op day 1, month 1,3 & 6.Visual acuity,ASOCT,corneal topography, CORVIS-ST and iTrace abberometry were done at each visit.
Results:UCVA improved in 5 eyes;BCVA improved in 6 eyes;At 6 months:significant increase in CCT(p=0.0002) & corneal densitometry(p<0.05);significant flattening of keratometry(Kmax;p=0.007);significant increase in SPA1 & Deformation Amplitude.No significant change noted in corneal aberrations.
Conclusion:ISKP combined with CXL seems to be effective in enhancing corneal stability and achieve corneal topographic flattening in cases of progressive keratoconus.
