FP1739 : Epidemiological profile and Risk Factors of cases with Subluxated cataract and IOLs in central India

Abstract

Study design- Retrospective hospital based study
Purpose-To describe the epidemology and Risk factors of cases presenting with subluxated cataract and intraocular lenses (IOLs).
Method-A total of 100 eyes of 100 cases with significantly subluxated cataract and IOLs were included. Their Demographic profile and Risk factors were studied.
Results- The mean age of the study group was 62 years. 71% cases presented with subluxated cataract while 29 %had subluxated IOL. Most common risk factor for subluxated cataract was PXF (6%), followed by trauma and Marfans syndrome (3%),whereas in subluxated iol group it was previous complicated surgery .In subluxated cataract group ,most patients presented with phacodonesis (56%), followed by cataract drop into posterior segment (31%) .In subluxated iol group most patients presented with iol drop into posterior segment.
Conclusion- Rate of subluxation is higher in PXF and patients with prior vitrectomy. Trauma causes zonulolysis leading to visual loss.
