FP1738 : IMPACT OF CATARACT SURGERY ON VISION RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH STRABISMUS

Abstract

PURPOSE: Amblyopic eye is sensitive in detecting blur despite reduced visual acuity & contrast sensitivity. These symptoms & impairments of visual functions in strabismus patients with cataract are not well documented. We aim to evaluate the vision related quality of life(VRQoL) after cataract surgery in strabismus patients
METHOD:This prospective intervention study on 44 cataract patients with strabismus who underwent SICS assessed their VA, 33-item Indian Vision Functioning Questionnair scores(IND-VFQ33) pre & postoperatively. Data were presented as frequencies, percentage & means±SD
Results:Strabismus: 15°- 61%, 30°- 28%, 45°- 11% patients. Mean pre & postoperative CDVA:1.66±0.4 & 0.48±0.44. As per IND-VFQ-33 the mean pre & postoperative General functioning:55.86±9.69 & 32.36±9.21, Psychosocial impact:11.56±1.57 & 7.09±2.17; Visual symptoms:22.34±3.27 & 9.30±3.27
Conclusion: 85.36% patients saw significant improvement in their VRQoL after cataract surgery
