Abstract
Purpsose-To describe management of a congenital choristoma with well planned and executed debulking surgery.
Methods-A 23 year old female patient with a growth on the white part of the eye since birth which was progressive and painless in nature causing foreign body sensation. On slit lamp examination, the yellowish mass measuring 4mm*5mm was noted on the bulbar conjunctiva temporally in the right eye with scanty hair growth on its surface.A small peripheral corneal opacity measuring 0.8mm also noted on 7’O clock to the limbus not obscuring vision.Diagnosed as lipodermoid for which debulking done under local anesthesia.
Results-The excision created good cosmesis and uniform symmetry. Discomfort due to the lanugo hair was relieved.
Conclusion-Cosmesis is a need of hour for younger generation. Lipodermoid although asymptomatic at times can cause considerable anxiety due to asymmetrical facial appearance. In such cases, managing surgically to debulk lipodermoid gives good results.
