FP1592 : Epidemiology and Presentation pattern of eyelid tumors in a teaching hospital of North East India

Abstract

Study design: Retrospective case series. Purpose: To assess the demographic profile & frequency of eyelid tumors in patients presenting in this part of country. Methods: HPE confirmed 40 cases of eyelid tumors reporting in our facility in Northeast India from Oct 2021 to Oct 2023 were analyzed for their incidence, age of presentation, sex distribution, location and arranged in order of frequencies. Results: Of 40 cases ,32.5% were malignant neoplasm and 67.5% benign tumors .The mean age was 49.14 yrs (range of 8-72 yrs). There was slight female preponderance(55%).Most tumors were located on upper lid (62.5%). Among the malignant , most common was BCC 30.76% followed by Sebaceous cell Ca 23.07%, SCC 23.07% & others 23.07%. Commonest benign tumor was dermoid 22.22% followed by Capillary Hemangioma 18.51%, sebaceous cyst 18.51%, others
Conclusion: Most eyelid tumors in this region are benign and BCC being the most common malignancy. Mostly growths were seen in females and on upper lid.
