Abstract
Lagophthalmos is defined as the partial or aberrant closure of the eyelids. Eyelid closure is enabled by orbicularis oculi muscle,supplied by facial nerve.Conditions deranging intact facial nerve like iatrogenic, tumor,infection,trauma results in lagophthalmos.
60 year old male patient s/p excision of right CP angle neoplastic mass suggestive of vestibular schwannoma came with complaints of inability to completely close right eye and foreign body sensation in right eye since 6 months.No h/o redness,watering,pain,diminution of vision in the right eye.On examination,right eye showed grade 5 lagophthalmos according to House Brackman grading,inferior 1/4th exposure keratopathy and signs of right facial nerve palsy are seen. Patient underwent Right eye medial canthoplasty with lateral tarsal stripping under LA.
