FP1546 : A TALE OF TWO TRAUMAS -VISUAL OUTCOMES IN CLOSED GLOBE INJURIES WITH AND WITHOUT HEAD TRAUMA

Abstract

Aim:To analyse the importance of head trauma in the visual outcome of patients with both head injury and closed globe injury.Study duration:3 monthsMethodology:300 patients with closed globe injury and grouped into group 1(with closed head trauma) and group 2(without any head injury).Visual outcomes, pupillary reactions, fundus & visual field examination in both groups assessed at 1st visit & at end of 2 months after trauma observed. All causes of head injury including RTA,assault and other accidents were included. Those with severe head injury where visual acuity couldn’t be assessed,fatal/near fatal head injuries, open globe injuries, open head trauma,age<18 years, mentally ill patients were excluded.Association between simple ocular trauma without any involvement of bony orbit and with involvement was also assessed.Association between globe injury with lid injury and those without lid injury was assessed. This was again compared between Groups 1 and 2.
