Abstract
PURPOSE:To compare predictive accuracy of standard keratometry(SK) versus total keratometry(TK) in IOL power calculation for Monofocal and Toric IOL
MATERIALS AND METHOD: A Prospective, cross-sectional comparative study, which included patients undergoing phacoemulsification surgery. Optical biometry was done using IOLMaster700.
IOL power was calculated using both SK and TK . Barrett universal 2 and Barrett toric calculator was used for IOL power. The predicted spherical error and the actual post-op refraction measured at 1 month was compared for each formula used. The mean absolute prediction error(APE) between the two was statistically analysed.
RESULTS: Mean APE was lower with total keratometry compared with standard keratometry for toric IOL power calculation, however there was no significant difference in case of monofocal IOL.
CONCLUSIONS:A higher prediction accuracy can be expected by using total keratometry values for toric IOL power calculation.
