FP1438 : comparison of phaco and FLACS in primary angle closure glaucoma

Abstract

retrospective observational study
aim- to compare postop visual outcome, IOP control and change in no of AGM in PACG pts with visually significant cataract who underwent phaco or FLACS
Methods- retrospective chart review done in 20 phaco and 20 FLACS pts fulfilling inclusion criteria. Vn, BCVA, IOP, SLE, AGM no noted on preop visit and Postop Days 1,7,30 and 90. CCT noted on preop and pop 1 mth. Statistical analysis done and p value taken significant at<.05
results- no significant difference in preop characteristics and postop vn, CDE,IOP and no of AGM. Corneal clarity was better and AC reaction less in FLACS gp on D1 and D7. Intragp IOP was significantly higher on D1 and lower on D90 than preop level in phaco gp. No intraoperative complication reported in either gp.
conclusion- FLACS was safe but not superior to phaco in patients of PACG with mild to moderate damage and medically controlled IOP. it was more cornea friendly than phaco in early postop period.
