FP1431 : Quantitative analysis of vitreous reflectance on OCT in different grades of Diabetic Retinopathy

Abstract

Purpose: To assess the vitreous reflectance intensity on OCT in different grades of DR and to establish the significance of change in vitreous reflectance intensity on Optical Coherene Tomography (OCT) with severity of DR
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study comprising of analysis of OCT images of patients divided into 4 groups. No Diabetes Mellitus (DM), no DR (control group), DM no DR, NPDR and PDR. Heidelberg Spectralis OCT images were analyzed using ‘OCTOR’ software.
Results: Significant increase (p≤0.005) in relative vitreous reflectance intensity to Retinal (inner retinal layers) intensity and Retinal Pigment Epithelium intensity with severity in different grades of DR. Siginificant Vitreous reflectance changes were seen between all 4 groups. There was correlation of vitreous reflectance intensity with change in Retinal thickness as well.
Conclusions: Viteous Reflectance can be used as a potential imaging biomarker for diagnosis and progression of DR changes.
