FP1414 : Analyzing choroidal vascularity index (CVI) in patients with syphilitic uveitis.

Abstract

Method-Patients presenting to the Uvea department diagnosed to have syphilitic uveitis by TPHA and VDRL test underwent (EDI-OCT). CVI is luminal area (LA)/ total choroidal area (TCA). EDI-OCT images were segmented and LA,TCA and stromal area(SA) were calculated using a validated technique of image binarization on ImageJ software . The CVI of these patients was compared with normal patients (control group) (unpaired t test). A comparison of CVI pre- and post-anti-syphilitic treatment was also analyzed (paired t test).
Result-The CVI of 10 eyes of 6 patients is compared with 10 eyes of 5 normal patients. The mean CVI in pre-treatment group was (0.644±0.024), post-treatment was (0.635±0.032), in normal patients was (0.700±0.002). The difference in the CVI between normal patients and those with syphilitic uveitis who have not undergone treatment is statistically significant with p=0.000. The CVI is not statistically significant for pre-and post- treatment group(p=0.437).
