Abstract
Study Design:Retrospective
Purpose:To report visual outcomes following surgical correction of myopic astigmatism with Visian Toric implantable collamer lens(ICL).
Methods:Toric ICL was implanted in 52 eyes(n=38)with mean preoperative sphere of −8.64±3.04D and cylinder of −2.49±1.02D.Primary visual outcomes of efficacy, safety, stability, predictability of refraction and astigmatic analysis were reported at 3 and 12 months postop.Secondary subjective outcomes included dry eye symptoms and glare/halos.
Results:At 12 months, the mean spherical equivalent and mean cylinder were −0.22 ± 0.47D and −0.69±0.51D,with 94% and 89% achieving within ±1.00D of target refraction.Uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA) was 6/6 or better in 84% of eyes.No surgical complications occured and no additional procedures were required.
Conclusion:This procedure was safe and effective.Patients achieved markedly improved UDVA in a single surgery with stable vision over time and minimal adverse subjective symptoms.
