FP1363 : Traumatic globe luxation: A case series

Abstract

Introduction:
Globe luxation is a condition wherein the globe luxates out of the socket, can be spontaneous
or traumatic. It is a rare but dramatic presentation. the study aims to describe the clinical presentation, visual outcome and management of traumatic globe luxation.
Methods- Retrospective case series of 4 adults presenting with globe luxation from January 2021 to
June 2023.
Results: All 4 were traumatic luxations. age ranged from20 to 54yrs,male to female ratio was 3:1.
Presenting visual acuity was no PL. All 4 had vitreous hemorrhage,2/ 4 had retrobulbar hemorrhage,
3/ 4 had open globe injury, orbital floor fracture in 3/4, lens dislocation in 1/4,1/4 patient had
optic nerve avulsion, 2/4 patients had EOM avulsion,medial rectus was most affected. All patients
were managed with repositing globe into orbit and tarsorrhaphy.Phthisis developed in 3/ 4 patients.
