Abstract

Objective: To study risk factors, occupation, demographic details, management and outcomes of patients presenting with corneal foreign body

Methods: A prospective analysis which included 150 patients with corneal foreign body between march 2023 to April 2023.Demographic data, clinical features, visual acuity at presentation and follow up, treatment and outcomes was analysed

Results: Among 150 patients, the average age was 40yrs,male predominance(67%).Majority were occupational hazards(72%)commonly involving metallic foreign bodies(76%) and vegetative matter(20%).Visual acuity varied in each cases. Cases managed with foreign body removal followed by topical antibiotics. Outcomes varied from complete remission to remaining of rust ring in 18%,corneal opacities in 34%,ulceration in 8%
