Abstract
Study design: Retrospective interventional case series.Purpose: Analysis of spectrum of orbital tumors in population aged 60 y and above. Method: Retrospective consecutive interventional case series. Results: 213 eyes of 208 patients, median age 65y, males 107(51%) and bilaterality in 17(8%). 4% had known systemic malignancy. Palpable mass in 114(53%) followed by proptosis in 91(43%)were main presenting features.Tumor were malignant in 142 (67%) and benign in 71(33%). Most common malignant tumors were lymphoma in 60(28%),secondary involvement by lid or surface tumors in 40(19%) and lacrimal gland malignancy in 13(6%).Most common benign lesion included NSOID in 10(21%) followed by fungal granuloma in 9 (4%) and cavernous hemangioma.On follow-up, systemic metastasis was seen in 21(10%). Conclusion: This series highlights the distinctive nature of orbital pathologies seen in elderly population.
