STUDY DESIGN: CASE REPORT
OBJECTIVE: We present a case of Sebaceous gland carcinoma of the upper eyelid.
PURPOSE: Sebaceous gland carcinoma is a rare, slowly growing tumor arises from meibomian glands or glands of zeis. Most frequently affects the elderly with predisposition for female.
METHODS: A 65year old female presented to OPD with painless mass over left upper eyelid since 1 and half year. Clinically diagnosed and surgically treated as chalazion 2years ago previous histological analysis not available. Surgical excision of visible tumor with 3 mm of healthy appearing margins in all direction was done and send for histological analysis.
RESULTS: The specimen showed malignant cells arranged in sheets and lobules separated by fibrovascular stroma. Cells show pleomorphism hyperchromatic nuclei and vacuolated cytoplasm.
CONCLUSION: Overall histological features were suggestive of Sebaceous gland carcinoma with clear margins. Direct closure eyelid reconstruction was performed.
