Abstract
Dry eye disease (also called dry eye syndrome) refers to a group of disorders of the tear film that are due to reduced tear production or tear film instability, associated with ocular discomfort and/or visual symptoms and inflammatory disease of the ocular surface. This study analysed 200 people across all age groups among relatives/attendants of patients presenting to the ophthalmology out patient department at command hospital (EC) Kolkata. Ocular surface disease index based questionnaire(12 questions) is administered and further underwent evaluation for dry eyes on sirius+ corneal topography system. various parametres like ocular redness, percentage of meibomian gland loss, Tear meniscus height and Nibut was assessed. Results showed prevalence of Dry eye disease (DED) was 50% (100/200), 22% (44/200) had mild DED, 16% (32/200) had moderate DED and 12% (24/200) had severe DED.
