FP1184 : To Evaluate The Role Of tCsA After Pterygium Surgery In     Tertiary Care Centre Of Jharkhand

Abstract

Pterygium-elastic degeneration,fibrovascular proliferation of conjunctiva into the cornea.Topical Cyclosporine(tCsA) suppresses TH cells,controls ILsynthesis,secretion and inhibits VEGF.Objective:To evaluate the role of (tCsA)0.05% in preventing recurrence after excision and autologous conjunctival graft (ACG) in patients with primary pterygium.Material And Methods:46 eyes with pterygium,33 (71.73%)male and 13 (28.26%) female b/w age of 55to65 yrs examined,operated with excision and ACG b/w April2022-April2023. 23 eyes of  46 patients treated tCsA for 6 months postoperayively,as test group.Other 23 eyes of 46 patients as control,followed day1,7and month1,3,6.Result:The largest % farmers (30.3%), recurred in 7(15.2%),2 in test(8.7%) and 5 in control group(21.7%).Pre and postoperative compliance  lower in test than control group.Schirmer I  increased after tCsA in test group.Conclusion: tCsA can be used safely and effectively after pterygium surgery to obtain lower rates of recurrence.
