Abstract

OBJECTIVE-To evaluate the Visual prognosis in cases of descemet’s membrane detachment post pneumodescematopexy following cataract surgery.
METHODS- Interventional prospective study of 12 patients who presented with non resolving corneal edema following cataract surgery. Slit lamp biomicroscopy showed various types of descemet’s membrane detachment which was confirmed with ASOCT (subtotal/inferior/superior)
All patients underwent 100%intracameral Air tamponade with inferior peripheral iridectomy.
RESULTS-10 out of 12 patients had good descemet’s membrane attachment and on follow up corneal edema resolved with good visual prognosis.
CONCLUSION-Descemet’s membrane detachment is a rare but vision threatening complication following cataract surgery. Pneumodescematopexy is a safe and effective procedure in managing descemet’s membrane detachment.
