FP1162 : BACILLARY LAYER DETACHMENT – PREVALENCE AND CLINICAL FEATURES IN POSTERIOR UVEITIS

Abstract

Purpose: A Prospective observational study to determine the prevalence and clinical features of bacillary layer detachment(BALAD) in patients of posterior uveitis and to determine its prognostic value.

Material and methods: 20 patients with posterior uveitis with follow up of 6 months were studied with clinical examination and multimodal imaging based description of posterior uveitis with BALAD. Outcome measures included macular volume, central subfoveal thickness and visual acuity.

Result: 20 patients (20 eyes) were included. Fifteen were female (75%). The mean age was 44.64 ± 11.3 years. The most frequent etiology of the uveitis was Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease. three patients were treated with IVMP boluses. Immunosuppressive therapies were required in 2 patients.
Conclusion: BALAD was observed in a series of posterior uveitis cases of various etiologies, showing functional and structural resolution with treatment in most cases.
