FP1012 : Role of Suprachoroidal Triamcinolone & Histopathology in Management of Capsular Vascularization

Abstract

A 28-year-old male presented with painful profound loss of vision in his RE over 3 days. BCVA was PL due to a steamy cornea, and a mature cataract. B-scan findings were unremarkable. Control of inflammation & IOP was achieved with medications, As the cornea cleared, fine vascular growth under the lens capsule, originating from the iris superiorly at areas of synechiae, was noted.
The patient gave a history of trauma 10 years back. The capsular vascularization and inflammation was successfully managed with inj Ranibizumab along with 4 mg suprachoroidal Triamcinolone injection. Within 1 wk, the eye became quiet. During the cataract surgery the vascular tuft was surgically severed & cauterized with endocautery. Phaco+ PCIOL was done and the excised capsule was subjected to histopathological analysis, confirming the presence of vascular endothelial cells.
Postoperative visual acuity significantly improved to 6/6, with regression of the vascular abnormalities & well centered IOL.
