Abstract
Paediatric traumatic cataracts are common.Often the anterior capsular rupture jeopardises the surgical procedure and pupillary capture of the implanted IOL is not uncommon which compromises vision and leads to amblyopia. We describe the band technique of capsulorrhexis which holds the lens back in the bag and a foldable IOL can be successfully implanted without the risk for pupillary capture. This anterior capsular band can be lasere off at a later stage when the IOL stabilises. This is useful to prevent amblyopia in children.
