FP1309 : Validating Target IOP in early, moderate, advanced glaucoma eyes.

Abstract

PURPOSE: To correlate percentage visits with IOP over target, and mean IOP difference with the Mean Deviation (MD) change per year. METHODS: Retrospective study on consecutive glaucoma patients (150 eyes: 55 early, 60 moderate, 35 advanced glaucoma). Eyes classified in severity based on the Visual field Mean deviation (MD): Early MD >-6.0 dB. Moderate MD-6 to-12 dB, Advanced glaucoma <-12 dB. The target IOP was set as 15-18mmHg, 12-15mmHg and <12mmHg respectively for the three groups. The difference from target IOP on medications or surgery was considered out of range if >2 mmHg. Progression was noted if MD was >2dB from baseline. RESULTS:87.32% of eyes that progressed had IOP over the target range. 12.68% of eyes progressed with IOP within the target range (p=0.05). A mean target IOP difference of 4mmHg was seen in progression eyes versus 3mmHg in non-progression eyes (p=0.054). CONCLUSIONS: A mean MD change >1db and a mean target IOP >4mmHg are risk factors predicting progression.
