Abstract
STUDY DESIGN
Hospital Based Case Control Study
PURPOSE
To compare the visual outcome and graft result in patients following penetrating keratoplasty with or without processing and evaluation of Donor Tissue
METHODS
Hospital based Case control study performed in RIO,Gauhati Medical College and Hospital taking 8 patients as target sample size and 16 as control sample size.Study end points were slit lamp findings and visual acuity recorded over 12 months.
RESULTS
Visual outcome is better in patients who underwent Penetrating Keratoplasty with processing and evaluation of donor cornea tissue along with less graft infection and less graft rejection.
CONCLUSION
Corneal Tissue processing and evaluation using Proper Slit lamp Evaluation and Specular microscopy along with grading of Donor Cornea tissue plays an important role in better visual prognosis as it gives proper patient selection, better visual acuity, less graft infection, less graft rejection leading to better graft result.
