Abstract
Prospective non randomised study.
Purpose: To study normative data of choroidal thickness in Indian population.
Methods: 516 eyes of 258 patients were included. . IOL Master 700 & Zeiss Angioplex OCT was used for measurements. Based in refractive error & axial length, patients were divided into three groups, emmetropes, hyperopia, myopes.
Result: Mean age was 24.61 years. Total emmetropes patient were 88 with mean axial length of 22.14±0.79. Hyperopes were 56 with mean axial length of 20.81±0.81 mm. Myopes were 114. Out of these, a separate group of 22 patients with axial length ≥26.0 mm &/ or refractive error of ˃-6.0 D were made as high myopes. Mean Choroidal thickness in emmetropes, hyperopes and low myopes was 270.15±16.8µ, 269.5±22.1µ, 268.41±34.7µ. There was no significant difference between the three groups. In patients with high myopia the choroidal thickness was 221.17±28.4µ.
Conclusion: Choroidal thickness in our study was comparable till axial length was less than 24.5 mm.
