VT0134 : Patience is road to success. .! Pediatric cataract with fibrotic anterior capsule -a novel technique

Abstract

This is a case of partially absorbed pediatric cataract . It has a wrinkled and stuck anterior capsule to fibrous membrane beneath it .The greatest challenge in this case would be making anterior capsulorhexis as anterior capsule is completely stuck to fibrotic membrane beneath it. Usually the membrane-capsule complex is cut with scissors and rhexis is completed in such cases .But in this novel technique, strategy would be making small initial rhexis and then separating the fibrous membrane from anterior capsule with blunt dissection, extracting the fibrous membrane in toto and then making large secondary capsulorhexis to complete rest of the case.
