Abstract
Study design: Case report
Purpose: We present a case of ethmoidal mucocoele in a 50yr old female having a painless progressive medial orbital mass with telecanthus, globe compression & visual field obstruction since last 8m.
Methods: Clinical examination & CT+MRI imaging revealed non enhancing homogenous well delineated mass compressing the globe & was planned for surgical excision.
Results: On exploration, the cyst was densely adhered to the medial orbital wall impeding complete separation.Inadvertent puncture of the cyst resulted in expulsion of mucoid fluid.HPE of the cyst wall revealed ciliated pseudostratified mucosal lining.
Conclusion:While dealing with medial orbital masses ethmoidal mucocoeles must be kept in mind along with other differentials like lacrimal sac mass, angular dermoid, lymphoma, malignancy.
