study design: retrospective interventional case series
aim: to describe the surgical management of globe luxation
Methods : patient swith globe luxation due to various casuses are examined for clinical signs and managed surgically. many a time enucleation is done for these cases. these cases can be managed by globe repositioning. clinical features are described and the management of these case will be described. A lateral canthotomy is done and chemosis is reduced by incising on the conjunctiva and draining the subconjunctival fluid. the globe is repositioned and a temporary eyelid stitch is put and procedure is repeated as necessary.
results : age group 8-58 years . 6 eyes in 5 cases with globe luxation secondary to trauma(2), retrobulbar hemorhage secondary to bleeding disorders(2) or shallow orbit (2) were managed effectively by globe repositioning preserving the globe with good cosmetic rehabilitation .
