FP0715 : Vitrectomy in eyes with penetrating keratoplasty

Abstract

Purpose : To evaluate the result of pars plana vitrectomy in post penetrating keratoplasty (PK) eyes
Methods: Eyes which underwent penetrating keratoplasty were included. Ten eyes had trauma, 1 corneal ulcer and 1 nucleus drop. Eyes with vitreous hemorrhage , retinal detachment , endophthalmitis and dropped nucleaus were planned for pars plana vitrectomy. Pre and post- op vision, iop, fundoscopy, ultrasound B scan. The endothelial cell count of the donor graft were recorded pre transplant and post vitrectomy.
Results : 12 patients were enrolled. Vision improved from hand movement to 0.6 LogMAR. 12/12 had attached retina with silicon oil in 7 patients. 1 had failed graft for which re-PK and re vit was done. Mean follow up time was 12 months. Average endothelial cell loss was 800 ± 156 cells/mm2.
Conclusion : Eyes with vitreoretinal complications post PK can attain good visual acuity with PPV. In spite of multiple procedures, patient can enjoy good vision and a better quality of life.
