PURPOSE : To study the central subfield macular thickness in patients with different types of unilateral amblyopia vs the fellow normal eye via the use of optical coherence tomography .
METHODS : The central subfield macular thickness was measured using an OCT in different types of unilateral amblyopia using the fellow normal eye as control .
RESULTS : A total of 46 patients between the ages of 5 years-44 years with different types of amblyopia were included . The mean central subfield macular thickness of the amblyopic eyes was found to be 261.17+/-24.246(mean+/-SD) and 250.63+/-24.211 which is statistically significant .
CONCLUSION :Patients with unilateral amblyopia have a higher central subfield macular thickness as compared to fellow normal fellow eye .
