VT0577 : OPD FLUID AIR/GAS EXCHANGE – an effective yet rarely used technique.

Abstract

Early post vitrectomy complications such as post operative vitreous cavity hemorrhage, endophthalmitis reactivation and post operative retinal breaks with detachment are quite common. Fluid air/gas exchange in the OPD is a very easy and effective technique to tackle above complications. Under aseptic precautions passing a 26G needle to half its length into vitreous cavity followed immediately with another 26G needle mounted on a 5 cc syringe loaded with air/gas. It is an easy ,cost effective, less time consuming, minimally invasive OPD procedure and has good outcome as vitreous lavage. The video will show the procedure in detail with its technique.
