FP0637 : Effect of amblyopia treatment on macular thickness, microvasculature& RNFL thickness in children

Abstract

Purpose-To evaluate the effects of amblyopia treatment on retinal microvascular density,Macular Thickness(MT)&RNFL Thickness(RNFLT) in patients with Unilateral Anisometropic Amblyopia(UAA)
Methods-90 children including 34 newly diagnosed & 56 recovered UAA underwent OCT Macula, RNFL& OCT Angio(OCTA). Their contralateral eyes were used as control.Vessel densities of superficial capillary plexus (SCP),deep capillary plexus(DCP),MT & RNFLT were acquired
Results-The UAA group showed lower macular vessel density in SCP & DCP(P=0.007),increased MT(p=0.0006) & RNFLT(p=0.004) compared to the control eyes. After BYNOCS therapy the recovered amblyopia group showed no difference of vessel density in SCP & DCP(P=0.214),MT(P =0.15) or RNFLT(p=0.227) when compared to the control group
Conclusion-Children with UAA have reduced macular vessel density in OCTA, while increased MT& RNFLT. Macular Vessel density significantly increases & MT&RNFLT significantly decreases following successful BYNOCS therapy
