Abstract
Design: Retrospective case study
Purpose: To analyse the presentation features and management of unhappy blepharoplasty patients
Methods: Records of 21 patients unhappy with their primary surgical procedure were analysed. Standard preoperative and postoperative photographs, eyelid parameters and Details of the primary surgical procedure was noted. Intervention done included conservative management, injectables, surgical rehabilitation
Results: Majority (18/21) patients had their primary procedure done by a general plastic surgeon. 16 patients had lower eyelid surgery while the remaining 5 had upper eyelid surgery. Surgical revision was performed in 8 patients while most of them were managed conservatively. Of the 21, 16 reported satisfactory outcomes at the last follow up visit
Conclusion: The margin for error in a blepharoplasty surgery is minimal. Majority of complications can be managed conservatively while few need surgical attention best performed by an oculoplastic surgeon.
