FP1288 : Functional outcome in patients undergoing orbitotomy for cavernous venous malformation (CVM).

Abstract

AIM-To assess the functional outcome in patients undergoing orbitotomy for intraconal cavernous venous malformation.Material and Methods -It was a retrospective interventional study . Data regarding complete ophthalmic examination were collected . Functional outcome was defined in terms of visual acuity, ocular motility, reduction of proptosis and improvement in fundus changes at last visit .Results Nine patients were included . The male to female ratio is 1:4.Age group ranged from 42 to 60 years. 70% had Best corrected visual acuity >6/18.. Seven patients underwent lateral orbitotomy with bone removal one patient had lit split approach .In all patients pre op visual acuity maintained or improved postoperatively. None of the patients developed any complications related to ocular motility. Conclusions:Excellent functional outcome is possible with orbitotomy for intraconal cavernous venous malformation.
