FP1045 : ROLE OF REPRODUCTIVE HORMONES IN DACRYOCYSTORHINOSTOMY

Abstract

Introduction & Aim -Chronic dacryocystitis is a long-lasting, non-infectious inflammation of the lacrimal sac. More commonly seen in middle-aged or older women, suggesting that decreased estrogen and progesterone serum levels may be a causative factor in the disease pathology. The study was performed to assess the association of reproductive hormones level before and after Dacryocystorhinostomy(DCR) surgery.
Materials& Methods- An observational cross-sectional study was performed on 100 patients over 6 months. In our study blood sample was collected in red vacutainer tube & was sent for serum FSH,S.LH,S.estrogen,s.progestreone evaluation.
Results-Our study showed that serum Oestrogen level had a significant association with DCR (value is 3.20 at P value of 0.05 i.e. 95% CI). And FSH was also found to have a significant association (2.93 at 95% CI).
