FP0712 : CAN RETINAL GANGLION CELL TOPOGRAPHY PREDICT PATTERN OF VISION LOSS IN NEURO-OPHTHALMIC DISEASE?

Abstract

Purpose: A retrospective observational analysis of macular Ganglion Cell (m-GCL)determined by Ganglion Cell Thickness mapping on Spectral Domain Optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) & correlation with pattern of vision loss in patients with Neuro-ophthalmic disease. Methods:5 representative cases with diagnosis of Optic Neuritis, NA-AION, IIH, Pituitary Adenoma with chiasmal compression, PCA Infarct were selected retrospectively. All had undergone a complete ocular evaluation, Visual Fields, SD-OCT and Neuro-imaging. Results: m-GCL thickness and deviation maps correlated much better with visual field defects in all cases and were able to detect the changes much earlier than the ppRNFL analysis. Conclusion: m-GCL analysis could bring a direct correlation to visual field loss, a better understanding of the disease mechanisms, and can be an effective tool in diagnosing & monitoring retinal structural changes in neuro-ophthalmic conditions; especially when visual fields are not feasible.
