Abstract

Purpose:To report the sx outcomes of MMC augmented NPDS and phaco in patients with co-existing cataract & end-stage glaucoma.Methods:Retrospective analysis of 349 eyes of 320 patients with NPDS+phaco sx were included.Outcome measures:BCVA, IOP, AGM were compared, complications and interventions were noted. Cumulative failure rate was defined as IOP >21 mmHg or not reduced by at least 20% below baseline; or IOP< 6mmHg on 2 consecutive follow-up visits, re-sx for high IOP or a sx complication or PL(-).Results: Significant IOP reduction was noted from baseline of 17.54(5.43) to 15.10(5.34) &16.23(6.87)mmHg at 6mts &1yr respectively. AGM number reduced from 2.95(1.01) to 1.99(0.98) & 2.16(1.00) at 6 & 12 mts respectively. Complications in 17.8% patients most with poor IOP control (8.3%). 2(0.6%) tube sx & 3(0.9%) diode CPC for refractory high IOP.Cumulative sx success was 91% and 84% at 1& 2 yrs respectively. Conclusion:This method is a safe & a viable option in eyes with advanced glaucoma
