Abstract

Purpose: – To report a case of a patient with bilateral Adie’s pupil who underwent SMILE. Methods:-A 28 years old young female presented for refractive laser correction. Patient was a diagnosed case of Adie’s pupil. On examination preoperative refraction was -3.25DS -0.75DC@70 degrees and -4.50DS -0.75DC@115 degrees in right and left eye respectively. Dynamic pupillometry revealed scotopic pupil size of 6.64 mm in right eye and 6.98 mm in left eye. Pachymetry noted 556 µm in right eye and 561µm in left eye. Patient was started on diluted pilocarpine drops 0.1% twice a day in both eyes and underwent SMILE with optical zone of 7mm.Observations :- Post operative 15 days patient had UCVA of 20/20 in both eyes with no significant night visual symptoms. Patient was advised diluted pilocarpine drops for 3 months and called for follow up. Conclusion:-Measurement of the diameter of the pupil is an important parameter in the planning of laser refractive surgery to optimize the surgical outcome.
