Abstract
Aim: Comparison of diagnostic capability of macular GCIPL thickness vs RNFL thickness in patients of POAG with mild moderate and severe field loss
Methods and Material: Total 90 eyes with POAG were divided in three groups MILD MODERATE and SEVERE based on visual field loss .SD OCT Scans to measure RNFL loss and GCIPL loss were taken for each patient. Each group was compared with 30 control eyes.
Results: in the MILD field loss group the sensitivity of average GCIPL was 96.7% and specificity was 100%. in the same group the sensitivity of average RNFL was 66% and specificity was 70%.
In MODERATE and SEVERE group the results were comparable.
Conclusions: sensitivity and specificity of GCIPL loss is significantly better than that of RNFL parameters in the mild field loss group.
Key Messages: In case of mild field loss, average GCC loss has better predictive value as compared to RNFL loss. In cases of moderate to severe field loss, GCC scan is a good adjunct to RNFL scans.
