Abstract
Study Design: Institutional based Descriptive study
Purpose: find outcome in cases with APROP/PLUS disease following therapy with ranibizumab injection and to assess the requirement of further treatment in patient with reappearance of abnormal vascularisation.
Methods: 20 ROP babies who attended OPD were taken to be a part of the study. The parents were counselled regarding the disease and treatment, after which injection ranibizumab was administered. Follow up period was of 18 months
Results: 20% of the babies showed early regression with complete vascularization(within 3 months of injection). 50% showed delayed regression with compete vascularization, 5% showed incomplete vascularisation,(till 1 year post injection) and 25% required secondary laser photocoagulation owing to reappearance of proliferation.
Conclusion: Intravitreal ranibizumab injection is a good treatment modality for ROP babies where laser is not feasible specially in ROP zone 1 where intervention is necessary
