Abstract
Study design- retrospective study
Purpose-to elaborate the clinical profile, visual outcome and prognostic factors in eyes with ocular trauma
Methods-Retrospective review of 1010 eyes of 1010 patients presented with open globe injuries between January 2018 and December 2021 at a tertiary eye care center. Demographic data, clinical findings, treatment and visual outcomes were studied.
Results- the incidence of ocular trauma was higher in males than females. Accidental injuries were most common (94%). open globe injury was seen in majority (93%). Zone II injury was involved in most cases. Rate of enucleation was 8%.
Conclusion- zone III injuries and dislocation of crystalline lens were found to be poor prognostic factors. Eye injury is still a common and avoidable cause of blindness
