FP2823 : Clinical profile of eye lid injuries because of mechanical trauma

Abstract

Methods: We retrospectively collected demographic, clinical data of all patients attended emergency department eyelid laceration between 2010-2022 .Demographic and clinical Data collected in pretested format & statistical analyses done using SPSS22.
Results: A total of 150 patients studied for lid laceration with median age 28 y and median follow up 31 days. 56 (37.3%) were from paediatric age group and 22(14.7%) were toddlers (0-6) Male preponderance 77.3%, 54.7% in RE, while 52.7 % have upper lid, lower lids in 58 % Both lids in 9.3%, Canalicular tear was in 30 % Most were due to road traffic accident 18% Blouse hook responsible in 19% toddlers. 56% underwent primary lid repair 17.4% Canalicular repair.9.9 % had associated intraocular injuries.
Conclusion: Lid injuries are common with mechanical injuries. it can be presented with Canalicular injuries and other intra ocular and intra orbital injuries.
